The Blue C-Stat has a sharpened foot to engage a distal embrasure. The mesial facing foot has been removed to allow greater flexibility of movement so the camera lens can be brought closer to the prepared tooth as needed.

 The distance between the camera lens and the occlusal surface should be 4-5 mm. 

Use the Blue C-Stat when there is a reliable distal rest area that can be secured
